Medical Research Centre – Kasturba Health Society
The Medical Research Centre of the Kasturba Health Society (MRC-KHS) is the only centre in the world dedicated to research and education in Reverse Pharmacology (RP). Reverse Pharmacology bridges the gulf between the domains of Ayurvedic fundamentals/therapeutics (Shastra) and advances of modern bio-medicine (Science). This centre has set a trend in new drug discovery through RP, at a time when major research centres attached to leading drug-industries in India have been closed.
Professor Ashok Vaidya, Research Director of MRC-KHS, and former Regional Medical Director of Ciba-Geigy says “Small is beautiful, functional and can be sustainable” and adds “Research prospers through collaboration.”
Dr. Rama Vaidya is Director of the Division of Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders at MRC-KHS.
MRC-KHS team has been focusing on services and research on musculoskeletal health and associated diseases of elderly viz., rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, sarcopenia and post-menopausal osteoporosis. Besides obesity, another major problem is musculoskeletal development vis-à-vis life-style and aging. Dr. Mona Shah, Director Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, MRC-KHS has organized services for the sector: prevention of falls and fractures in the aged, “ANSHU” program for physically or mentally challenged children and for patients.
ANSHU Centre
ANSHU Centre is an Adult & Child Development Centre.
It provides out-patient Intervention for all age groups from children, adolescents, families, young adults and senior citizens.
At the centre, we address all physical as well as mental disabilities of our patients.
ANSHU has a State of the Art Physiotherapy Department which is fully equipped to treat all Orthopaedic and Neurological disabilities.
We provide early intervention to children in need of neurodevelopmental delays and differences, academic to social / behavioural concerns and children in need of emotional support.

ANSHU centre was setup by Dr Mona Shah. She always had an inclination in guiding parents towards their children’s well-being. The opportunity to do so came her way at the perfect stage in her life, when she had fulfilled her duties and given wings to her children, and she was ready to give it to others.
The main objective was to establish an adult as well as a children’s development centre for the community which would provide effective, ethical and culturally ingrown services.
As the journey has progressed, we have learnt that our vision and intent is not just about creating a centre but a lot more.

Our Mission
Providing Paramedical Services for Special Children suffering from various conditions like:
- Cerebral Palsy
- Mental Retardation
- Neuromuscular Disorders
- Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia)
- ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder)
- Autistic Spectrum Disorders
- Other Developmental Disabilities
A program for every individual child encompasses a range of need based specialised training that is provided by our ANSHU team of dedicated medical, paramedical and special education professionals.
Our Horizons
- To assess children with developmental delays & achieve normal milestones through NDT (Neuro Developmental Techniques)
- To aid children with sensory processing issues through SI (Sensory Integration) therapy. To increase attention and concentration to decrease hyperactivity
- To make children independent in their ADL (Activities of Daily Living) through environmental changes and home adaptations or modifications if required
- To tackle handwriting problems in a child by developing perceptual skills and hand functions
- To achieve age appropriate language / communication and deal with locomotor/sensory problems
- To provide vocational guidance programme including aptitude interests, personality and adjustment tests for students from Std. 9 through to 12
- To evaluate I.Q. and learning skills and to consent parents about the child’s academic and behaviour problems
Our Team
Team ANSHU comprises of professionals who are fully qualified as Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Nutritionists and Consultants.
Some of these therapists are additionally qualified as dance & movement therapist, music therapist, brain gym therapist, feeding therapist and family therapist.
Many of our therapists have also undertaken training and certificate courses in techniques like Sensory Integration therapy, Neurodevelopmental therapy, Diet and Nutrition, Mckenzie Certification, Kinesio Taping, Dry Needling, Solution focused therapies etc.
Our ANSHU team is ably supported by a strong administrative team and support staff at all times at our centre.
